Job Introduction

We are looking for an Assessment Officer to join us at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) to work directly with a range of stakeholders to deliver frontline regulation.

As an Assessment Officer, you will work with others in our frontline team to provide a first-class service to all stakeholders who contact the regulator. This includes tenants, registered providers, and elected representatives. You will be responsible for providing clear and transparent communication with those who contact us.

You will be responsible for recording and analysing regulatory intelligence we receive from different sources. You will assess and respond to concerns raised with the regulator about registered providers, and will work collaboratively with our regulatory engagement teams to ensure an appropriate escalation of cases.

You will manage a broad and varied caseload of referrals. You will do this at pace and in line with our service standards.

About the role:
Our frontline assessment team ensures a proportionate and risk-based approach to handling the regulatory referrals we receive. We manage cases in line with quality and service standards.

Your work will positively contribute to the effective regulation of registered providers by providing   first-class regulatory intelligence.

You will be also responsible for managing contact from a wide range of stakeholders, including tenants and tenant groups, registered providers, elected representatives and other statutory bodies such as the Housing Ombudsman. You will ensure our decisions are communicated to stakeholders in a clear and transparent way.

You will be instrumental in the continual improvement of the work of the Assessment team by  owning and developing projects alongside your casework.

About you:
As the successful candidate, you will be an adaptable self-starter and have a track record of working within a fast-paced regulatory, tenant/customer or assurance-based environment. You will have a understanding and commitment to the principles of modern regulation as represented by the co-regulatory approach and will have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement to reach robust, evidence-based conclusions.

You should have a track record of managing relationships at senior levels and experience of handling complex and contentious issues with stakeholders in a tactful but clear manner. Ideally you will also have a good understanding of the strategy and operations of registered providers, particularly in areas of governance, risk management, landlord services and tenant engagement. You will bring strong analytical skills and an ability to evaluate evidence. You will be able to exercise sound professional judgement and reach robust conclusions at an individual case and broader level.
